Sean Connery’s Bond heads east in the fifth film of the series to confront Ernst Stavro Blofeld’s diabolical plan to conquer the world by pitting the American and Soviets against one another. The plot – based around Blofeld’s hijacking of rockets in space from his Japanese volcano lair – was spiced up by a Roald Dahl screenplay and the stunning Ken Adam-designed enclosed set was the largest ever built. Guns, girls, gadgets and stunning executed setpieces, it was the most fantastic Bond outing of the 1960s.
