Darren Aranofsky returns to form in this heartfelt and heartbreaking tale of a one-time famous wrestler, now out-of-luck and looking for one last shot at the big time. Comeback kid Mickey Rourke proves Hollywood was correct to let him back in the playpen, clearly dredging up painful memories to colour his portrayal of Randy “The Ram” Robinson, while Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood are quality support as Randy’s stripper friend and daughter, and possible shots at redemption. This generation may have just found its Rocky.
