Forgetting Sarah Marshall"You won't believe it honey - I'll play a drunk, annoying twerp"As Russell Brand is lined up to remake the Dudley Moore vehicle, Arthur, and Fox announce plans to remake Romancing The Stone (!), we take a look at the movies Hollywood just can't leave alone.

Russell Brand has been linked with a 'reimagining' of Arthur, the 1981 (surprise) hit that starred Dudley Moore as the titular playboy forced into an arranged marriage.

Arthur made over $80m in the US and earnt an Oscar for the song, Arthur's Theme (The Best That You Can Do). It also made an unlikely Hollywood star out of Dudley Moore.

The comedian was previously seen in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and is looking to continue his Hollywood career after resigning from the BBC in the wake of the Andew Sachs phone call saga.

Meanwhile, Romancing The Stone, the post-Indiana Jones actioner that launched Michael Douglas as a leading man, is the latest Hollywood hit of yesteryear to face the remake treatment.

romancing the stoneDouglas in Romancing The StoneFox have announced plans to once again produce the movie, signing up a writer to pen a new script but not yet casting the lead roles that previously belonged to Michael Douglas, Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito.

Both movies follow a slew of remakes and reimagingings. This month's Quarantine was a remake of Spanish horror, Rec, which was released earlier this year, while Sweeney Todd, The Incredible Hulk and Journey To The Center Of The Earth all did good business this year despite owing debts to other productions featuring the same characters.

The next 18 months will see even more remakes hitting cinemas - see below for a guide to Hollywood's candidates for the remake treatment, along with some of the best and worst remakes of the last few years.
