Review

Based on Charles Portis' novel, True Grit reunited John Wayne with director Henry Hathaway to play lazy US Marshal Rooster Cogburn, who would rather stay at home than chase criminals.

When 14 year-old Mattie Ross (Kim Darby) calls on him to avenge her father's death, Rooster decides that it's time to take some action.

The enemy has escaped into Indian territory, and the chase is thrilling and potentially devastating.

A classic Western in which a lawman tracks a criminal, True Grit tells the story of a band of cowboys, including Marshal Rooster Cogburn and Texas ranger Glen Campbell, chasing an outlaw into deep and uncharted territory.

This movie won two Academy Award nominations, including best actor for John Wayne.
