Hitchcock's globe-trotting spy thriller stars Frederick Stafford as a French agent trying to mess up Russia's plans in Cuba. American intelligence is represented by John Forsythe - you'll recognise the face from Dynasty and the voice from Charlie's Angels. Based on the Cold War bestseller by Leon Uris.

Review

Underrated Hitchcock thriller based on the best-selling book by Leon Uris, author of the (also filmed) Exodus. Keep your thinking caps on for the incredibly complicated plot and you'll be gripped throughout, even though Hitch's characteristic lightness of touch sometimes deserts him, leading to variable pacing. Frederick Stafford is adequate in the lead; a great supporting cast includes top French character stars Michel Piccoli and Philippe Noiret.
