With comic book movies currently a license to print money, no wonder Hollywood came knocking on Frank Miller’s door.
Creator of the Sin City and 300 comics, plus The Dark Knight Returns which heavily influenced Christopher Nolan’s Batman reboot, Miller has been given the opportunity to helm an adaptation of comic guru Will Eisner’s influential crime fighter strip.
The Spirit is a hotchpotch of weird science, Greek gods, immortality, cloned goons, and Samuel L. Jackson, whose villainous Octopus is a wild riff on his Pulp Fiction persona, dressed as Huggy Bear, a samurai warrior, and a Nazi officer.
Fans of beautiful women should enjoy the supporting cast of Eva Mendes, Scarlett Johansson, Sarah Paulson and Jaime King, who are draped around the virtual sets in memorably skimpy costumes.
