Naff and endearingly clumsy - unlike the girls' stage act - this is not bad as a vehicle for a pop group, although slightly less relaxed than these things used to be in the Sixties. Plot? There isn't one, as such.
The girls have to reach the Albert Hall for a concert, and nurse their friend through having a baby at the same time. They do. The famous five prove just about passable as actresses and, although real humour is in short supply, the Victoria character, obsessed with clothes, make-up and keeping her poise, has some amusing moments.
On stage, though, the Spicettes are a sight more entertaining, with precision timing on some rhythmic and toe-tapping numbers.

Pop queens The Spice Girls contend with distractions and detractors in the days before a big concert at the Royal Albert Hall in this endearingly daft slice of chart-busting fun. The song'n'dance stuff speaks for itself and it packs in more cameos than Posh's antique jewellery collection. Richard E Grant, Bob Hoskins, Hugh Laurie, Elton John, The Wire's Dominic West, Jennifer Saunders, Meat Loaf and Roger Moore are among the wannabes who fancy a bit of zig-a-zig ahhh.
