Effects legend Tom Savini is just the man to roll his sleeves up and get stuck into a gristly remake of George Romero's undying classic.
An excellent, hard-driving performance by Patricia Tallman, going from nervous wreck to intense, knife-edge gun girl, offers a good twist on the original and Tony Todd is a competent hero.
The living dead themselves are always ludicrous rather than threatening, but there's plenty of jumpy moments and the atmosphere remains tense.

An interesting remake of the George A Romero classic zombie horror thriller - scripted by Romero but directed by Tom Savini, the man behind the gory effects of the earlier Living Dead films. Stars Tony Todd and Patricia Tallman as part of a group of human survivors trapped in a remote farmhouse with the dead knocking on the door.
