That wicked scene-stealer Edmund Gwenn is cast as an endearing old forger in this whimsical, winning comedy. The rest of the cast includes Burt Lancaster, Dorothy McGuire and some very good character players, but they just don't stand a chance. There's a good script by Robert Riskin and Edmund Goulding's discreet direction sews the package up nicely. Good for children too.
