Review

Former editor John Glen here took over direction of the twelfth 007 epic and came up with a near non-stop series of stunts and smart special effects. Roger Moore's James Bond - or indeed the audience - are rarely given time to take breath in between bouts of action and suspense, as 007 spends his time racing around the Mediterranean trying to stop a secret device getting into the hands of the Soviets. Topol plays a former member of the Greek resistance who helps Bond against Julian Glover's smooth and sly villain. And the girls, headed by French actress Carole Bouquet, are, of course, beautiful. Sadly, Bernard Lee, who had been Bond's boss 'M' since 1962's Dr No, died before his scenes could be filmed, but Janet Brown and John Wells provide wicked cameos of Margaret and Denis Thatcher.
