Set in 1978, this KISS-oriented music movie desperately wants to be another I Wanna Hold Your Hand with boys instead of girls. Although it has the noise level, it lacks the wit and subtlety to achieve its ambition, falling between youth road movie and naughty sex comedy of the 1970s. Edward Furlong and the lads have the energy but not the talent for all this, and best thing on view is video vamp Shannon Tweed (wife of KISS lead singer Gene Simmons) in a worthless but well-played cameo as a predatory businesswoman.
