Death Race

The desert during Rommel's retreat from El Alamein is the harsh setting for this cat-and-mouse thriller. Lloyd Bridges is uncharacteristically cast as a fanatical German tank commander pursuing the crew of a crippled American fighter plane which can only taxi along the ground. The director is the dependable David Lowell Rich, who cut his teeth on the gritty Naked City and Route 66 series.
