This rather offbeat crime comedy about a clueless trio of thieves doesn't sound like much, especially as there are no big names in the cast. But thanks to sharp direction from Wes Anderson and smart, witty dialogue it's a little winner. Anthony (Luke Wilson) gets out of a mental institution and teams up with his partners in petty crime, Dignan and Bob (Owen C Wilson and Robert Musgrave). The trouble is, there isn't a cupful of criminal talent between them! James Caan appears in a cameo role as a Mr Big who hires them to do a job. Good fun.

Before cornering the offbeat comedy market with The Royal Tenenbaums and The Life Aquatic, director Wes Anderson and the Wilson boys (Owen and Luke) presented their calling cards with this engaging crime caper. The brothers star with Robert Musgrave as best buddies who opt for a life of crime after Luke is released from a psychiatric hospital. Unfortunately, this trio can barely pull off their socks, let alone a robbery. Good job the script is smarter than they look.
