A rogue alien spaceship crashlands in the woods above a humdrum American town. Not for long. Hot on its trail is a new adversary - a Predalien - whose job it is to mop up the acid-dripping extra-terrestrials. Bodies are eviscerated and craniums explode as the sworn intergalactic rivals go head-to-head. AVP gore hounds will find much on which to feast in this sci-fi bloodbath from special effects supremos The Brothers Strause. It sure ain't no waltz.

Review

The squabbling invaders are placed slap-bang in the middle of smalltown America and caught in the middle are the good townsfolk of Gunnison, Colorado

There's the cop who can't cope, the jailbird striving to go straight, the bullying sports jocks and a female Iraqi war veteran whose presence is a tribute to the resilient Ripley of Alien fame.

Either side of the quivering locals are the old-fashioned aliens and the Predalien, a sort of dreadlocked avenger with the look of Bob Marley in a suit of armour.

Unfortunately, such is the awesome power of the narked extraterrestrials that the locals are little more than chopped liver from the get-go - it's a bit like a village plod taking on a Challenger tank dripping in acidic goo.

Gore-hounds will have much to salivate over...
