A look at the cast suggests that this tough, bitter war drama is another Dirty Dozen. And it has the same director - Robert Aldrich. There the similarity ends. Attack! is a war film so frank and un-American that when it was shown at the Venice festival, a US ambassador walked out in protest. Eddie Albert dominates the film with a tremendously impressive performance as the cowardly captain, even over Jack Palance's snarling ferocity as the vengeful lieutenant.
