This is the Monty Python team's first film venture, an anthology of sketches from their popular BBC TV series, including The Lumberjack Song and Dead Parrot. It's full of classic moments that an American audience was invited to enjoy for the first time. Of course, the troupe would go on to win praise for their feature pics including Life of Brian and Monty Python and the Holy Grail. But it all started here.

Review

Early Monty Python film intended for the US market, which explains the fact that most of the sketches here appeared first in their TV series.

John Cleese, more recently coping with 'Fierce Creatures', here enjoys his classic encounter with a pet-shop owner over a deceased parrot.

Uneven, but studded with funny moments.
