Alien 3 07

Sci-fi horror thriller starring Sigourney Weaver. Ripley crash lands on an all-male prison planet, unwittingly bringing with her an alien. This screechy sequel was the launching pad for director David Fincher, who went on to hit great heights with Seven, Fight Club and The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button.

Review

Sigourney Weaver is still Lt Ripley, cast adrift from her homebound vessel by an alien intruder, and the only human survivor of a subsequent crash on to a prison planet whose few inhabitants are the shaven-headed scum of the galaxy - and have no weapons.

The alien, regenerating itself via a dog, is soon scuttling into slobbery, heavy-headed, tombstone-toothed action.

Similar in structure to the first film, with people creeping around in the dark after an unknown force, there is less of a sense of evil, and more of a simpler science-fiction menace.

Naturally, there are still some spine-tingling moments, and addicts will doubtless embrace the creature whole.
