An engaging presence on the small screen (Deadwood; Aaron Sorkin's short-lived Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip), Sarah Paulson works her versatile charms as Emily, a bride-to-be whose Christmas Day wedding hangs in the balance when her oily boss (Dean 'Superman' Cain) whisks her away to Florida on a business trip.
With only ten days to go, that means leaving all the arrangements to her disorganised fiance Ben (Ugly Betty's Mabius) and her interfering mother (Mimi Kuzyk of Hill Street Blues) and worryingly good-looking sister (Reagan Pasternak).
But once the deal is done, Emily is all set to head home for tinsel, trees and wedding bells. Unfortunately, fate blocks her way with obstacles ranging from an airport-closing tropical storm to lost children, smarmy car rental clerks and old ladies in distress.
Her race to make it down the aisle isn't all planes, boats and automobiles - it also involves helicopters, sleighs, and, thanks to a bunch of hairy but soft 'Elf's Angels', Harley Davidsons.
While there's a hint of both Meet The Parents and Midnight Run about proceedings, A Christmas Wedding dunks the festive spirit into the milk of human kindness to provide mishap-penstance of a more cosy, family-friendly nature.
It'll leave a pleasant buzz before the big day arrives.
