Nuptial veteran Jane Nichols (Heigl) is addicted to weddings. She can't get enough of them. Sometimes she attends two in one day.
The trouble is that they are never hers. Twenty-seven times she's walked down the aisle...as a bridesmaid. One day, she reasons, it's going to be her big day.
And, after two dozen odd dry runs as bouquet-holder in chief, it seems that she's found the man of her dreams. Her boss.
George (Burns) is a prime slab of American beefcake with a brain. He runs his own company. He loves the great outdoors. He's even eco-friendly.
However, just as Jane thinks she's snared him her model sister Tess (Akerman) waltzes in under her nose and steals his heart.
Director Anne Fletcher's enjoyable rom-com is as fluffy as a society wedding dress but injected with some heart courtesy of Katherine Heigl.
She's a genuinely engaging comedy player (actually better served by Judd Apatow's Knocked Up) and rescues this from its mawkish inclinations.
It helps that her co-star is James Marsden, who hammed so winningly in Enchanted, with solid support from Judy Greer as a catty slattern.
