Writer/director Eric Red wrote the scripts for The Hitcher and Near Dark, and here draws on a deep pool of woman-in-peril and Rear Window homages.
Referencing Panic Room, Poltergeist, The Entity and Disturbia, his 100 Feet has Janssen, “Noo Yoik” accent and all, as a woman who can't convince the local boys in blue that her dead hubby is not resting in peace.
But, her former spouse also happened to be in a boy in blue, and his partner has not forgiven her for killing his best friend. With no-one to turn to, it seems the battered wife will not escape her husband after all.
Fans of poltergeist movies will have fun ticking off the convention, but a spectacularly gory beating from beyond on a delivery boy with eyes for the one-time Bond girl is genuinely surprising, and the chunks of exploding ectoplasm in the fiery climax ensures Red ends his little shocker with a bang.

Disturbia and The Entity collide in this chiller from Eric Red, writer of horror on the highway classic The Hitcher. Goldeneye and X-Men star Famke Janssen plays a battered wife, under house arrest following the self-defense murder of her cop husband. Restricted to a 100ft radius of her New York home proves dangerous when Janssen's dead hubby returns from the grave, angrier than ever and with new supernatural abilities with which to exact his revenge.
