Sky Movies Mag: you’ve played some varied roles on-screen, haven’t you?
Selma Blair: Even people who’ve seen me in several things don’t realise it’s the same person! I’ve had different looks in my films. With Hellboy, I get a totally different audience. I’m drawn to the misfit – that’s more interesting to me.
SMM: So, how would youdescribe yourself?
SB: I look like Tom Cruise, don’t I? Or actually, I look like Katie Holmes. Katie Holmes with Tom Cruise’s haircut…
SMM: What was it like filming Hellboy 2 in hungary?
SB: I ate more because it was so cold – I put on 20lb! I really binged in Budapest... The director [Guillermo del Toro] says that in one half of the film I look boney and in the other half like a puffer fish! It’s the most unprofessional thing I’ve ever done on a movie. When you see yourself on screen like that, you realise how quickly these things can happen.
SMM: Is that all that bothers you about the way you look?
SB: I don’t bleach my teeth, I chain smoke, I’m flat-chested, I’m pale as a ghost and I have crow’s feet. But I am not precious about how I look! I am who I am and I don’t want to change that.
