George Lucas must have realised he had a fair shot at reinventing popular cinema with Star Wars, and got off to a dazzling start.
Above the desert planet Tatooine a large spaceship rushes overhead - and what impresses is its realism. Lucas then reveals the craft to be on the run from a larger warship. A much larger warship.
This "Star Destroyer" class cruiser passes overhead, and keeps passing, and keeps passing. The scale is titanic, and the detail on the ship even more impressive than that first seen spaceship.
Not only is this one of moviedom's best money shots, this moment revolutionised sci-fi movies, special effects, and audience expectations of what a summer blockbuster could deliver.
