Life-During-Wartime-12Artificial Eye and Sky Movies continue their partnership by co-releasing their 3rd film together, Todd Solondz’s award winning Life During Wartime. The movie is set for release on April 23rd.

Artificial Eye Film Company and Sky Box office will simultaneously release Life During Wartime, the latest film by acclaimed director, Todd Solondz, boasting an all star cast, including: Allison Janney, Charlotte Rampling, Ciarán Hinds, Ally Sheedy, Paul Reubens and Shirley Henderson.

The film will be released in at least 10 cinemas across the UK from 23rd April, on the same day it will be available on Sky Box Office for two weeks only.

Philip Knatchbull, CEO of Curzon Artificial Eye said: “We are extremely pleased to continue our strong partnership with Sky Movies by simultaneously releasing Life During Wartime in local cinemas and home cinema from April 23.

"There are many people who won’t or can’t go to see a film on its release in cinemas, but by paying the same price will be able to see that film, day and date, in the comfort of their own home.

"At the same time Sky’s cross-platform promotion of the film will provide greater awareness for those who might like to see it in a cinema but who otherwise might not have been aware of it.  We see this as a great model for the future distribution of smaller independent films.”

Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies and Sky Box Office, added: “Sky Box Office is thrilled to continue its partnership with Curzon Artificial Eye as part of its commitment to offering customers choice and flexibility over when and how they enjoy the latest movies.

"The simultaneous release of Life During Wartime in both cinemas and Sky Box Office ensures the title is instantly available for movie fans all over the country to enjoy.”

The film won the Golden Osella award at Venice Film Festival 2009 for Best Screenplay and was also nominated for the Golden Lion. It is part sequel/part variation on Solondz’s acclaimed film Happiness, starring Philip Seymour Hoffman and Lara Flynn Boyle, which won the 1998 Cannes Film Festival FIPRESCI Prize and nominated for a Golden Globe in 1999 for Best Screenplay.

Life During Wartime focuses on three sisters and the people they love as they struggle to find their places in an unpredictable and volatile world where the past haunts the present and imperils the future. The question of forgiveness and its limits threads throughout a series of intersecting love stories, offering clarity and, perhaps alternatives, to the comforts of forgetting.
