Sky Movies Indie HD is proud to announce a festival first having joined forces with Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) to bring movie fans a dual screening of the indie comedy, Dead Happy.
The indie short, starring Alice Lowe (Hot Fuzz) and Dario Bernal, has been entirely funded by Sky Movies Indie HD and will premiere on the channel and screen to EIFF press and delegates at the same time.
Two festival screenings will take place on Sunday 20th June, being mirrored by Sky Movies Indie HD scheduling as follows:
12pm – Sky Movies Indie HD – Sky channel 339
8.30pm – Sky Movies Indie HD – Sky channel 339
Directed by Nicky Lianos and written by David Lemon, Dead Happy is a short comedy about the Grim Reaper, bored with her 9-5 job and trying to cope with her unrequited love for another.
The film is the winning entry of the Sky Movies Indie HD search for a new British film-maker, in association with The Independent and Skillset. The prize included funding and workshop advice in order for Nicky to go ahead and convert her script into an HD film.
In anticipation of her film’s premiere, Nicky Lianos said, “I am so proud of this work and delighted to have such big names in film supporting me on this project. It feels great to be able to finally tell family and friends they can see my work by tuning into Sky Movies.”
Ian Lewis, Director of Sky Movies said, ‘We’ve always been proud to show a diverse range of content and with this competition we’ve been able to take our commitment to independent film one step further by giving a member of the general public the opportunity to make HD film content for our channel.’

Sky Movies Indie HD is devoted to screening the best in independent film and is now the tenth channel on the Sky Movies network to be transmitted in high definition, ensuring that independent movie fans can enjoy the widest variety of films in the highest quality.
