James Cameron's technology-busting innovations could be facing some serious competition.
Ryan Reynold and DC Comics' upcoming superhero movie Green Lantern is set to feature the first fully CGI superhero suit.
It sounds crazy, but what started out as seemingly barmy tittle tattle has gathered steam with reliable film blog /Film claiming the rumour is "150% legit".
In what will be a movie first, Ryan Reynold's intergalactic ring-wearing superhero will film all of his scenes wearing a grey tracking motion and performance capture suit (replete with the traditionally silly looking LED lights), before post-production CGI will graft on an entire suit to give him the character's trademark lime-green look.
While we're more than a little trepidatious about the decision, the film's costume designer Naila Dickson (who's previously worked on The Lord of the Rings and The Last Samurai) is fully supportive, claiming that the filmmakers want to create something truly original and groundbreaking.
Just remember, we all laughed at Avatar - and look how that ended up.
Do you think they're crazy to try such a thing? Or could it help Green Lantern stand out from the superhero crowd? Let us know on our Facebook page and Twitter stream.
