Originally intended as one movie, Tarantino's rip-roaring rampage of revenge spun out into two volumes, released six months apart in 2003 and 2004. Uma Thurman is "The Bride", a hitwoman wanting out of the life, who is gunned down on her wedding day by the titular Bill, and his ruthless gang of assassins. Merely comatosed, when The Bride awakens, she unleashes merry Hell on those who wronged her, travelling the globe to do so. An epic revenge drama, packed with nods to Hong Kong action cinema, Japanese samurai movies, exploitation films, and spaghetti westerns.
