The model-turned-actress has joined the elite group of actresses - the Bond Girls - for the 22nd outing for 007.
Previously best known for her starring role in the shoot 'em up The Hitman alongside Timothy Olyphant, Kurylenko will play the "dangerously alluring" Camille.
Born into a peasant family in the south of Ukraine, at 15 she was spotted by a model agency in a Moscow subway while on holiday.
Moving to Paris at 16 (where she also attended theatre school), her first foreign shoot was in Cuba and she subsequently worked on campaigns for Harvey Nichols and Van Cleef as well as appearing on the cover of Marie Claire.
She made her big screen debut in 2005 in the French drama L'Annulaire and went on to co-star with Elijah Wood as a lovelorn vampire in Paris je t'aime.
The following year she appeared in the French TV drama The Good Luck Charm and also starred in director Frank Barbier's thriller The Serpent.
Recent work includes the role of a hooker in the madcap 2007 thriller Hitman.
