luke gossBORN: September 29th 1968 -- WHERE: London, England, UKThe former British pop idol is steadily carving out a career in movies with roles in the likes of Blade 2 and Hellboy: The Golden Army.

After global success with his twin brother Matt (and second-string bass guitarist Craig Logan), he left the boy band Bros and formed Luke Goss and the Band of Thieves.

After limited success, he turned to acting with a lead role in the musical play Plan 9 From Outer Space, based on an Ed Wood screenplay.

"As an actor, you bring your face, your physicality and your essence, your spirit, to a part."

Then the producers of the smash hit stage musical Grease offered him the starring role as Danny in the West End production.

In 2000, he made his inauspicious big screen debut in the widely-derided Two Days, Nine Lives before finding firmer ground the Leslie Grantham TV vehicle The Stretch.

Minor big screen roles followed with the rom-com Love Life and the straight-to-landfill horror-thriller Nine Tenths.

However, the David S Goyer thriller ZigZag alongside John Leguizamo and Wesley Snipes would significantly raise his acting profile in Hollywood.

In 2002, Mexican director Guillermo Del Toro cast him opposite Snipes as the villainous Nomak in the bloodsucking sequel Blade II.

After starring opposite Michelle Yeoh in the action adventure Fei ying, Goss starred in Malcolm Needs' 2004 biopic of East End gangster Charlie Richardson - Charlie - in the lead role alongside Steven Berkoff.

The following year he featured - again as a villain - in the comedy-thriller The Man alongside Eugene Levy and Samuel L Jackson.

A series of unremarkable movies - the horror Unearthed and the thriller Bone Dry - followed before Del Toro turned to Goss to play the evil Prince Nuada in Hellboy 2: The Golden Army.
