BEST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM: WALL.E

Critics's favourite Wall.E was a unsurprising win for Best Animated Feature Film, but its victory must go some way to compensate for its perceived under performance at the box office (although $223m at the US box office is a disappointment we'd like to share in).
Blending silent comedy inspired slapstick with genuinely romantic emotion, this eco-friendly tale of a life returning to a pollluted Earth 700 years in the future is an unabashed delight.
Winning Best Animated Feature elsewhere, what is most notable about Wall.E's critical success is its wins from the Boston, Chicago and LA critics for Best Picture of 2008.
ALSO NOMINATED:
It sounds like a one joke movie, but thanks to a sharp script, vibrant voice characterisation and a good old-fashioned sense of fun, it triumphs as family friendly fun with jokes and japes that kids and grown-ups alike can enjoy.
Bolt
The shaggy dog story of a TV star pooch who believes his studio based adventures are real, Bolt features the voice talents of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, and cutting edge 3-D animation.
As with Wall.E and Kung Fu Panda a polished script and giddy sense of fun elevates this above standard CGI fare.
