An audio file featuring Christian Bale tearing apart the director of photography on the set of Terminator 4 has hit the web. The incident, in which Bale rants for over four minutes, has been defended by a T4 producer, who said the 'moment' soon passed.
In a sound file leaked onto the web - which you can hear below, but be warned, there's A LOT OF SWEARING - Christian Bale can clearly be heard ranting at Terminator: Salvation cinematographer Shane Hulbert, after the director of photography walked across Bale's eyeline mid-scene.
"I'm trying to do a f**king scene here and I'm going, 'Why the f**k is Shane walking in there? What's he doing there?" shouts Bale, who is renowned for his intensity on set.
Hulbert responds by explaining that he was 'checking the lighting'. Bale was somewhat unforgiving, saying that he will 'kick his ****ing ass' and threatening to quit the movie.
But, according to assistant director and producer Bruce Franklin, Bale soon regained his composure and got on with the job in hand.
"It was the most emotional scene in the movie," explained Franklin, who also worked with Bale on 2000's Shaft.
"And for him to get stopped in the middle of it - he is very intensely involved in his character. He didn't walk around like that all day long. It was just a moment and it passed."
Franklin also believes the audio file was released purely to 'slander' Bale
"This was my second movie with Christian, and it has always been a good experience with him. He is so dedicated to the craft. I think someone is begging to make some noise about this, but I don't think it's fair.
The art of acting is not paint by numbers, it's an art form."
The clip was obtained by website TMZ.com. which claims the tape was sent to the movie's insurance company by the exec producers as leverage, should Bale have walked from the set.
The British star is not short on a bit of controversy - the 35-year-old was arrested before the premiere of his biggest movie to date, The Dark Knight, for allegedly attacking his own mother and sister.
If the timing of the tape is correct - the recording was allegedly made in July 2008 - then it means both incidents took place just days apart.
You can hear the recording in full in the window below. Remember - this is not bleeped!
